The Town at a Glance
The Town of Smithtown, on Long Island's North Shore in Suffolk County, has about 116,000 residents and covers roughly 111 square miles, more than half of it water. It was settled under a 1665 patent to Richard Smith and incorporated in 1788. Its three incorporated villages — Head of the Harbor, Nissequogue and the Village of the Branch — sit alongside unincorporated hamlets such as Smithtown, St. James, Kings Park, Nesconset, and parts of Commack, Hauppauge, Fort Salonga and Lake Ronkonkoma.
Most homes were built from the 1950s to the 1970s; the median year built across the town is in the mid- to late-1960s.
Waterfront and Inland Homes
The town has two very different climates for a garage door. On the North Shore — Kings Park, Fort Salonga, Nissequogue, Head of the Harbor and the harbor side of St. James — salt air rusts springs, cables and brackets sooner. Inland — Nesconset, Hauppauge, Commack, central Smithtown and Lake Ronkonkoma — wear comes from age, cold winters and daily use. We pick parts accordingly.
Same Service, Every Community
